About

The Radiology Interest Group (RIG) at Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSUSOM) facilitates the education and career trajectory of medical students interested in diagnostic and/or interventional radiology.

Our board members work alongside local radiology programs and physicians to deliver seminars, hands-on procedural skills events, mentoring, research opportunities and conferences, and residency panels.

The group, previously known as Radiology In Medicine Interest Group, has been operating since 2016. If you are an interested student, or a physician looking to connect with our students, please email us at radiology_interest_group@med.wayne.edu

Our Events

Procedural Radiological Skills Workshop

Our third annual procedural skills workshop at Henry Ford in Detroit took place this May. Residents and physicians walked medical students through ultrasound procedures, line placement, and a contrast reaction mannequin simulation. Students also had the opportunity to learn about the program and chat with residents.

Alumni dinners

Each year, members of the interest group get the opportunity to sit down with WSUSOM alumni now practicing as radiologists.

Panels

Twice a year, WSUSOM RIG will host educational panels, inviting radiologists representing hospital systems across the state to speak to students about their experience with the field.
